The standard
version of Microsoft Word 2003 is capable of viewing WordPerfect
documents out of the box, and the WordPerfect viewer for Office 2003
additionally allows you to both edit the WordPerfect document and save
it in the Microsoft Word file format. To open WordPerfect files with Microsoft Word 2003, either right click on the document, go to ‘Open With’, and select Microsoft Office Word from the list, or within Word 2003, go to ‘File’, ‘Open’, browse to the location of the file, and select the appropriate file format from the ‘Files of type’ option at the bottom. To save a document from Word 2003 in WordPerfect file format, select ‘File’, ‘Save As’, and select the required format in the ‘Save as type’ option. When converting documents from version 5.x to Word 2003, the fonts may not come out correctly. To solve this, select the Font Substitution option located in the Compatibility tab of the Options dialog box, and then you can select the fonts to use. If you experience difficulty with the layout of a WordPerfect 6.x file when it is opened within Word 2003, a workaround is to re-open the document in WordPerfect again, scroll to the end of the document, and then save it again. It should now open up correctly in Microsoft Word 2003.
